1. My website is available in one unique language today. Is it possible to make it multilingual?

Yes. SYSTRANLinks is a plug-and-play website translation solution. It offers on-the-fly translation of your website. No need to dedicate technical resources as SYSTRAN hosts your translated Web pages.

  • English into and from: French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Greek, Dutch, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Russian.

3. Do I have to duplicate my website and host the translated websites?

No, SYSTRANLinks is outsourced to SYSTRAN servers. SYSTRAN translates your Web pages and hosts the translated Web pages at no extra cost.


4. Will SYSTRANLinks add traffic to my website?

Having your website multilingual will certainly increase your overall traffic as you will be able to address an international audience.


5. What happens to the translations when I update my website?

SYSTRANLinks updates the translations automatically, in real time. As the translations are processed on-the-fly, SYSTRAN will update the translations whenever you update your existing Web pages or add new Web pages to your website.


6. How does SYSTRANLinks work?

When your Web visitors go to your homepage, they will have the ability to click on a flag or select a language in a drop-down menu. Then, SYSTRANLinks receives a translation request, connects to your website, gets the maintains the exact same layout as the original page.

8. How do I set up a free trial for my website?

  • You first have to sign up here for free.
  • You will receive a password by email within a few seconds.
  • Once you have received your password you may access your online account and get a free trial:
    • Go to SYSTRANLinks home page, enter your email address and password.
    • On the next page, register your website.
    • You will receive an email confirming your demo, with a link to access it.

9. What is the duration of the free trial?

The free trial is limited to 6 days. If you need more time to test SYSTRANLinks please contact our Sales Department.


10. Does the free trial include the same features as the regular service?

The free trial comes with your choice of 6 languages and a banner on the top of the translated website. If you want to test SYSTRANLinks API or the advanced features, please contact our Sales Department.


11. I am ready to subscribe. What do I do next?

Please contact our Sales Department.


12. Can I pay by credit card?

Yes. You can pay by credit card, personal check or wire transfer.


13. How do I register multiple server or domain names?

The SYSTRANLinks Bronze subscription covers one unique server name. With SYSTRANLinks Silver and Gold your subscription covers up to 5 server or domain names, called ‘aliases’. To add an alias to your account, please contact our Sales Department here.


14. How much do I have to pay if I want to register multiple server or domain names (‘aliases’)?

You can have up to 5 aliases with a Silver or Gold subscription. You cannot add extra domain names to a Bronze subscription. You will be charged nothing if you submit your list of up to 5 server or domain names at activation time. If you want to add extra domain names later during your subscription year, you will be charged $360 per modification.


15. I am a Web developer. Can I resell SYSTRANLinks to my clients?

Yes. You can sign our consulting agreement and resell SYSTRANLinks to your clients. Or you can have your company subscribe to SYSTRANLinks Gold and access a customized Web interface allowing you to manage your clients’ subscriptions. Contact our Sales Department for more detail.


16. How do I implementSYSTRANLinkson my website?

  • You first have to sign up to SYSTRANLinks for free.
  • You will receive a password within a few seconds.
  • Once you have received your password you can access your online account and get a free trial.
  • Go to SYSTRANLinks, enter your email address and password.
  • On the next page, register your main domain name.
  • You will receive an email confirming your demo, with a link to access it.

To generate the HTML links that you will then paste into your homepage:

  • Sign in to your SYSTRANLinks account.
  • Go to Website / HTML links in the top blue navigation menu.
  • Once on that page select the flags, the drop-down menu, or generate your customized links.

18. Can I test SYSTRANLinks’ API

Certainly. Set up a regular SYSTRANLinks trial, and then contact our Sales Department. Your SYSTRAN Sales Representative will get back to you with implementation instructions.

20. What is a translation request?

A translation request corresponds to one HTTP or HTTPS query. Basically, when a Web visitor goes to your homepage and clicks a translation link, it counts as a first translation request. Once on the translated page, if the visitor clicks on a link, this counts as another request, and so on. In other words, every single viewed translated page counts as a translation request.


21. How do I get traffic information about the translated Web pages?

Statistics for translated Web pages are kept on SYSTRAN’s servers and may be accessed by authorized users. To obtain traffic figures, please contact your SYSTRAN Sales Representative.


22. Is SYSTRANLinks secured?

Yes. SYSTRANLinks allows secured check-outs and ensures the same level of security as the one on the original version of your website. SYSTRANLinks supports password-protected Web pages and SSL.


23. Is it possible to block the translation of some parts of my website?

Yes. SYSTRANLinks allows you to prevent whole HTML blocks from being translated (legal disclaimers, sentences, brand names, product line names). Learn more from the SYSTRANLinks User Guide section 1.4.1.


24. How do I improve the quality of the translations?

Starting with the Bronze 2 package, you can access the SYSTRAN Online Dictionary Manager. Using the Dictionary Manager you can create your own user dictionaries to:

  • freeze words and phrases that should not be translated (product names, proper nouns)
  • override SYSTRAN’s default translation
  • add new terminology to the translation engine.

25. How do I explain to my Web visitors what Machine Translation is?

Ask your SYSTRAN Sales Representative to provide you with a translation disclaimer. Example: This website has been translated for your convenience using machine translation software powered by SYSTRAN. Reasonable efforts have been made to provide an accurate translation; however no automated translation is perfect, nor is it intended to replace human translators. The official text is the English version of the website. Any discrepancies or differences created in the translation are not binding and have no legal effect for compliance or enforcement purposes. If any question arises related to the accuracy of the information contained in the translated website, please refer to the English version of the website which is the official version.”


26. Some parts of my website don’t get translated. Why?

Text inside graphics won’t be translated. Learn how to localize your graphics here; section 1.4.2. You may use Javascript that stops the translation process. Learn how to enable fluid navigation with Javascript here; section 1.3.2. For any other questions just ask your SYSTRAN Sales Representative to go through your website and help you fix the navigation.
